bio picDr. Radu Pescarus, MD, FRCSC, D-ABOM

After completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at McGill University, Dr. Radu Pescarus continued his medical studies at the University of Montreal. He pursued his general surgery training in the hospitals of the University of Montreal, followed by a one-year fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at McMaster University. Subsequently, he underwent a second clinical fellowship in Portland, USA to further his knowledge of esophago-gastric surgery as well as advanced gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy. Upon his return to Quebec, he joined the surgery department of the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and is currently an Associate Professor at Université de Montréal. His clinical practice specializes in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, foregut surgery, as well as gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy, including third space endoscopic procedures. 

Dr. Pescarus is currently the President of CABPS and is equally involved with the clinical and research training of international bariatric surgery fellows, as well as senior residents during their minimally-invasive surgery rotation every year. His academic interests include clinical outcomes research in revisional bariatric surgery and the endoscopic treatment of upper gastrointestinal surgical complications.

Olivia Lovrics is a Chief Resident in General Surgery at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She completed a Master of Science in Human Nutrition at McGill University prior to beginning her medical training at McMaster. Her clinical interests include metabolic and foregut surgery, and she will begin an Upper GI Surgery fellowship at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia, next year.

Dr. Faisal Alshlahi is a Chief Resident in General Surgery at McMaster University. He has a clinical interest in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery, is supported by a full scholarship from Kuwait, and plans to pursue fellowship training in bariatric and MIS surgery.

bio picDr. Vanessa Boudreau, MD, MSc., FRCSC

Dr. Boudreau is a staff surgeon specializing in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at St. Joseph's Healthcare and an Associate Professor at McMaster University.

She earned her MD in 2011 from the University of Montreal and completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of Sherbrooke in 2016.  Following this, she completed a Fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hamilton and a Master’s degree in Health Research and Methodology at McMaster University.

Dr. Boudreau currently serves as the provincial co-chair for Project ECHO OBN.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors for CABPS and has been involved in the Weight Regain and Duodenal Switch provincial task forces for OBN.

In addition, Dr. Boudreau is the Undergraduate Clerkship CTU Surgical Director at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and serves as the current Chair of the Competency Committee for the General Surgery program at McMaster University.

 
Dr. Artan Reso, MD, FRCSC

bio picDr. Artan Reso, MD, FRCSC

Dr. Artan Reso graduated Medical School at University of Tirana, Albania. He completed his General Surgery Residency training at the University of Calgary and his MIS and Bariatric Fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Reso pursued a Masters in Surgical Education at Imperial College London, UK. Since 2010 he has been working at Rockyview General Hospital and South Health Centre in Calgary. His practice is focused on Bariatric, benign upper gastrointestinal disease and hernia surgery.
