bio picDr. Radu Pescarus, MD, FRCSC

After completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at McGill University, Dr. Radu Pescarus continued his medical studies at the University of Montreal. He pursued his general surgery training in the hospitals of the University of Montreal, followed by a one-year fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at McMaster University. Subsequently, he underwent a second clinical fellowship in Portland, USA to further his knowledge of esophago-gastric surgery as well as advanced gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy. Upon his return to Quebec, he joined the surgery department of the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and is currently an Associate Professor at Université de Montréal. His clinical practice specializes in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, foregut surgery, as well as gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy, including third space endoscopic procedures. 

Dr. Pescarus is currently the President of CABPS and is equally involved with the clinical and research training of international bariatric surgery fellows, as well as senior residents during their minimally-invasive surgery rotation every year. His academic interests include clinical outcomes research in revisional bariatric surgery and the endoscopic treatment of upper gastrointestinal surgical complications.

bio picDr. Nina Crowley, PhD, RDN, LD

Nina Crowley, PhD, RD, is a nationally recognized expert in body composition and obesity care, known for her engaging presentations, thought leadership, and advocacy. With a PhD in Health Psychology, she blends clinical expertise with a deep understanding of behavior change and patient-centered care. Nina began her career as a bariatric dietitian and led the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at the Medical University of South Carolina.

As Director of Clinical Education and Partnerships at SECA, leads strategic collaborations with key organizations to advance education, advocacy, and access in obesity and metabolic health. She works with clinical experts across specialties to elevate best practices and turn complex body composition science into practical, behaviorally informed strategies—shared through podcasts, webinars, and clinical tools that drive meaningful change.

Nina holds key leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Obesity Action Coalition, and represents SECA in high-level partnerships shaping the future of obesity care. Jenna Crown is a registered Dietitian working with the Division of Endocrinology and Bariatric Surgery team at the QE2 Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition with Integrated Internship Program from Mount Saint Vincent University. Since then, she spent time working in Ontario until ultimately returning home to Nova Scotia to her current role where she has been working with an interdisciplinary team to expand the bariatric surgery program and improve access to obesity care for Nova Scotians.
