Presentation Overview:

Early discharge protocols have been applied in bariatric surgery to standardize post-operative care, accelerate recovery, minimize inpatient resources and in-turn shorten waitlists. Many centers across North America have adopted same-day sleeve discharge pathways and a handful of American centers have further demonstrated safety/feasibility of same-day discharge for Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) patients. In this session, we share our own experience and insights in the introduction, implementation, and outcomes of a same-day bariatric surgery pathway (SDD) for RYGB at a high-volume Canadian bariatric center.
