Dr. Kapeluto completed training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of British Columbia. She completed an additional clinical fellowship and research post-doctorate in obesity medicine and bariatric surgery at Laval University. During her fellowships, she was awarded The Endocrine Society's Outstanding Abstract Award and its Presidential Poster Competition Award. She was also awarded the Dr. John Dupre Award for her research in diabetes and bariatric surgery. Dr. Kapeluto is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia with an appointment at Vancouver General Hospital and works with the Healthy Heart Lipid Prevention Clinic and Richmond Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program.

Presentation Overview:

This session aims to review select mechanisms of weight loss non-responders and weight regain following metabolic surgery. The role of adjuvant medications and clinical data around their use will be discussed.
