Dr. Khaled Gawdat Salem, MD

Professor Dr. Khaled Gawdat Salem graduated from Ain Shams School of Medicine, Cairo Egypt in 1985 and had a residency of general surgery at Ain-Shams School of Medicine, Cairo Egypt and St Elizabeth Hospital, Boston Ma USA. Dr. Gawdat Salem finished a master degree and a PhD degree in general surgery at the Ain Shams School of Medicine, Cairo Egypt, and then progressed to a full professor of general surgery at the Ain Shams School of Medicine. Dr. Gawdat Salem has been interested in bariatric surgery since 1996 with more than 2700 bariatric surgery procedures performed. Research interests include laparoscopic bariatric surgery, revisional bariatric surgery, single port gastric bypass, and management of complications of bariatric surgery. Dr. Gawdat Salem is the founder and president of the Egyptian Society for bariatric surgery and is a member of both the International Federation for Bariatric Surgery (IFSO) and of the ASMBS and a former member of the Editorial Board of Obesity Surgery Journal. Dr. Gawdat Salem has presented and published more than 25 bariatric surgery papers, chaired many sessions at international bariatric surgery conferences, and participated in educational bariatric surgery conferences with live surgery performances in Austria, India, Argentine and Egypt.
