Dr. Garneau received his medical degree at Laval University in Quebec City in 1991. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University Laval, and had the opportunity to work with the team of Dr. Picard Marceau, one of the fathers of bariatric surgery. Dr. Garneau has been a member of the General Surgery team at Sacred Heart Hospital of Montreal since 1997 and is currently the chief of the service. Dr Garneau performs frequently many bariatric procedures, including roux en Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding, and gastric plication and duodenal switch. He has a particular interest in Laparoscopic revisional surgery. His current research interests include clinical outcomes from sleeves procedures and investigations on the impact of bariatric surgery on Type 2 diabetes.
