Dr. Scott Gmora is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at McMaster University specializing in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery. He completed his medical training at Queen's University receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2002. He underwent residency training in general surgery at the University of Calgary and obtained specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Surgery in 2007. Dr. Gmora subsequently pursued 2 years of fellowship training in Critial Care and Trauma Surgery at the University of Miami's Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Florida. In 2009, he completed an additional year of fellowship training in minimally invasive GI and bariatric surgery under Dr. Julio Teixeira at Columbia University's St. Luke-Roosevelt Hospital in New York.
