Failure After Gastric Banding - Revision versus Conversion

Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to recognize the sources of failure after a gastric band, the indications for a second operation, the preoperative patient evaluation, and important criteria that can be used to decide between maintaining the same type of operation or converting it to a different procedure.

Dr. Miguel F. Herrera

Miguel Herrera graduated from the University of Veracruz in 1981. He is board certified in both, Internal Medicine and General Surgery. He is presently at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in Mexico City where he is Professor of Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery as well as Associate Professor of General Surgery. He serves now as President of the American Association of Endocrine Surgery. Areas of interest include: Endocrine, Bariatric and Laparoscopic Surgery.
