Learning objectives: Revision of Gastrojejunostomy Stricture
At the end of the presentation, participants should have a general knowledge of basic strategies for managing gastrojejunostomy strictures after laparoscopic roux en y gastric bypass. They should also have a general understanding of the technique used in the case presented as an example of one technique used for the surgical management of gastrojejunostomy strictures.

Biography Dr. Chris Smith

Born and raised in Newfoundland Dr. Smith grew up in the small fishing community of Lourdes on the province’s west coast. He Moved to St. John’s in 1996 to attend Memorial University and completed the Bachelor of Sciences degree with Honors in 2001. Dr. Smith then went on to complete Medical school in 2005 and General Surgery Residency in 2011 at Memorial University. He then started the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Ottawa in July 2011 and is set to complete his training June 2012. He is set to start practice in St. John’s NL as a member of the Discipline of Surgery at Memorial University in the summer of 2012.

Dr. Smith has many research interests which include bariatric surgery for patients who are non morbidly obese, and regionalization and delivery of health care, particularly with respect to trauma.

Dr. Smith has many outside interests including hockey, playing guitar, running and he is an avid hunter and fisherman.
